Join us for an important update to the rules and regs for FinCEN. Starting March 1, 2026, title companies and other settlement professionals must report certain non-financed residential real estate transactions involving legal entities and trusts to FinCEN under a new nationwide rule. Title professionals will be required to collect and submit a "Real Estate Report" with information about the transaction and parties involved, focusing on cash purchases of residential properties and those with private financing where a legal entity or trust is the buyer. This rule expands on existing Geographic Targeting Orders (GTOs) that apply to specific markets and marks a significant expansion of anti-money laundering requirements for the real estate industry.
